Planters
Clayton holds a legacy of over 100 years engineering excellence,
combined with a modern approach to meeting customer expectation.
The PLANTERS division
of the company was formed originally in London as PLANTERS
ENGINEERING Co. in the early 1900's.
The
company then specialised in natural rubber processing equipment
and baling presses for natural rubber, metal, tobacco, cotton
and many other materials having its manufacturing base at
Bolton in NW England.
In 1958 Planters with its expertise in natural rubber baling
developed a press for the then infant synthetic rubber industry.
This became the forerunner of today's flagship Synthetic Rubber
Baling Press.
In 1969 all sales
and engineering functions were transfered to the Bolton manufacturing
base and new products for metal baling were developed to compliment
the existing product base.
These new developments
included a large 3-stage baler and the smaller single stage
unit.
The latest generations
of these balers can now be found alongside the original installations
in many recycling applications.
In 1983 the CLAYTON
PLASTICS MACHINERY division was included into the organisation.
The Clayton division specialises in a range of small verticle
lock plastic Injection Moulding Machines mainly for the electrical
connection industry.
In 1994 the PLANTERS
and CLAYTON divisions of the original company were formed
into a new company PLANTERS CLAYTON LTD in order to promote
and manufacture the specialised products for which the two
divisions had earned a world-wide reputation.
Since then PCL has
developed high speed machinery to stay in line with advances
in technology, the need for high productivity and material
regeneration.
To this day all
Planters Clayton equipment is built specifically to customer's
order and therefore each machine can be configured to give
optimum working efficiency, dependant on the material to be
baled.
